In reply to the comment by angelo the rivers kwai yai and kwai noi meet at a confluence just south of kanchanaburi at which the combined rivers become the mae klong. So with admirable lateral thinking they renamed the river. It would be a long detour and a much more expensive one too when compared to simply taking a train between the two aforementioned cities.
